The word perilous would be a mild way to describe our times today. There are so many people with so many different opinions. Various opinions don’t always have to be considered a bad thin. , It becomes one when someone’s opinion encourages fear.
Yes, I know that there is a difference between good fear and bad. Where would we be if our parents never warned us NOT to touch the stove because it was hot? I don’t know about you, but I still look both ways before I cross the street.
Of course, that is not the fear that I’m talking about. I’m talking about the life-crippling, character-changing fear that takes your peace of mind and sense of GOD-given purpose. Yes, sir. God is coming for it. The fear that makes you regret waking up in the morning and afraid to go to sleep at night. Is there anyone out there who has encountered that kind of terror?
[2 Timothy 1:7 – For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and a sound mind.]
Fear, like any other emotion, can be a force to be reckoned with when it is not dealt with. Many scholars, philosophers, and theologians have acknowledged that we all have moments of feeling afraid of something. One of the biggest fears I’ve noticed among my peers is the fear of the unknown. What’s going to happen next? Where will I work? Who will I marry? Will we have enough money? Not to mention the world’s high standards of success that push us into thought patterns that can be far beyond realistic. The danger of it is when fear takes over your life. The thing to do is to have the courage to take one more step, dream one more dream, and face one more day despite the signals around us that say there is no use in trying.
Therefore, I’m taking a stand to reclaim the joy of living that can be so easily stolen by fear. Today I’m serving fear it’s eviction notice. I choose to love more, I choose to have more faith, and I choose to hope for the best that life can offer.
